We’re excited to announce that Goodman Photography is getting a new look! 2011 marks our 10th year providing photography and video services in South Carolina and we thought what better time than now to give our business a little makeover. In preparation for our new website coming soon, we thought we would give you a sneak peek of our new logo.

Since our website and blog are undergoing some major changes, this will be our final post on this blog. Be sure to join our facebook page for updates announcing our new website and blog debut coming very soon.

Not only is the look of our business changing, but the focus of our services is officially changing as well. From the beginning, we have captured one of the most important days in a couple’s life, their wedding day, and we have decided to make wedding photography our primary focus. In the past, we’ve also provided wedding videography services in addition to our photography, but have decided to focus our attention on our photography work. So, although we still provide video services for some non-profit and corporate projects, we no longer offer wedding day videography services. If you are interested in having a video of your wedding day, please let us know and we would be happy to recommend some great wedding videographers to you. We feel that this change will allow us to continue providing the photography experience our wedding couples have come to expect from us.

We are very thankful for all of our clients who have made our business so successful over the past 10 years and we look forward to many more years capturing all the special moments of excitement, nervousness, laughter and happy tears that make up the most important day in the beginning of a couple's life together as husband and wife.

It's hard to believe that Christmas is over and we are nearing the end of another year. We were blessed to meet and work with so many new clients throughout 2010 who we now consider friends and are looking forward to another great year in 2011!

Ashley and Ryan will be getting married in June of next year. We met in downtown Greenville for their engagement session.

Ryan enjoys biking, so he brought his bike along and tried to give Ashley a lesson...unfortunately bikes and stilettos don't mix. ;-)

Wedding: Adam & Ashley (Furman's Daniel Chapel & Larkin's on the River)

Adam & Ashley were married at Furman University's Daniel Chapel. We started out the day with Ashley as she had her makeup done at Wilson's on Washington.

The girls arrived at the chapel by limo to get dressed for the big day.

Ashley couldn't hold back the tears when she saw her dad for the first time that day.

Wedding: Philip & Sarah (Greenville SC Photographer)

Philip & Sarah were married at Calvary Baptist Church in Simpsonville, SC. They knew, however, that there weren't a lot of options for photos at their church because it was undergoing construction, so they thought outside of the box when it came to their wedding photography. First, they chose to see each other prior to the ceremony so they could take all of their photos before and then head straight to the reception afterward. They also decided to use The Garden House Bed & Breakfast in Simpsonville for their pre-ceremony photos. What a great idea! Using the beautiful grounds of the bed & breakfast gave a completely different look to their photos than if they had done them all at the church. This shows that a little creative thinking and planning ahead can help you get the most out of your wedding day photos.

Love the emotion that can be captured when a couple see each other for the first time prior to the ceremony...yes, that's a teardrop on Sarah's cheek.

Details and candid moments are our favorite things to capture and this wedding was full of both, including the infamous "sword swat", so this was a particularly fun wedding for us...except for the Sumter heat, but we'll just pretend that didn't exist. ;-)

John Thomas & Keri's wedding plans started back in 2006, years before they were actually engaged, with the signing of this "marriage contract". Keri's mom explained that it all started when John Thomas said that he was going to marry her daughter...being a bit of a jokester, no one took him seriously, so he insisted that her mom write up this "contract" to prove he wasn't joking around. It looks like he came through on his word! ;-)

We started out the wedding day at Keri's house where we found her finishing up some thank you notes.

Jason & Lindsey were married at Furman University's Daniel Chapel. We started out the day at the Brick Street Cafe for Lindsey's bridal luncheon and then went over to Lindsey's house where she did her hair and makeup before heading over to the chapel to get dressed.

Since Jason works for Michelin, we thought we'd borrow this guy for the rings shot.

Lindsey's mom gave her a very special gift...a handkerchief made from a piece of her own wedding gown with Lindsey's new monogram sewn into it.

Wedding: Adam & Sarah (The Davenport-Greer, SC)

Happy Anniversary, Sarah & Adam! Today marks one year since my niece, Sarah, got married. It's hard to believe that my nieces and nephews are old enough to be getting married, so I've been trying to ignore the fact that I'm getting old too and didn't want to post her pictures. ;-) Just kidding...we didn't get a chance to do a wedding post for them last year, so I thought their one year anniversary would be a good time to do it. Sarah and Adam were married at The Historic Davenport in Greer, which is a great venue for a small wedding and reception.

We started out the day with Sarah at the hair salon.

Sarah & Adam chose to see each other before the ceremony, so they could take all of their formal photos beforehand.

My brother had to get in on the picture taking too. Don't worry...the pink camera is Sarah's, but no one else can claim that orange watch! ;-)

Since Adam works for AT&T and sold us our iPhones, we thought they should make an appearance in their wedding photos! :-)

How much fun is it to be able to get a group picture of everyone who attended your wedding? I guess we should have jumped in on this one too, but we chose to stay behind the cameras...at least our kids made it in the shot though! :-)

Hmmm...Adam, can you hold off on talking on your phone for one day?! ;-)

Engagement: Caroline & Zach

Happy Memorial Day! Today happens to be a perfect day to share this particular post, since Zach is a member of the US Air Force. Thank you to him and all of the other men and women who have and are currently serving our country in the military!

We met Zach and Caroline in Columbia for their engagement portrait session. They also brought their dog, Calypso, along for some of the pictures and she has quite a special story! Zach gave Calypso to Caroline when he proposed at the airport when he was on his way back from a 192 day deployment to Afghanistan. Calypso served as a distraction so Zach could surprise Caroline with the ring. :-)

We started out the session around the Horseshoe at USC where Caroline went to college.

We also went down by the River Walk for some pictures. This shot was taken just before Calypso started barking pretty loudly at a passing dog...I think she just wanted to play, but I have to admit, I jumped a little since I wasn't aware of the other dog and the only thing between me and Calypso was my camera! ;-)

Caroline and Zach also wanted to be sure to get some pictures at the popular USC Gamecock Cockabooses.

We're looking forward to photographing Caroline and Zach's wedding on June 26! :-)

Lindsey was married at Furman University's Daniel Chapel this past weekend. Here are some of her bridal portraits taken at Furman a few weeks ago. The soft lavender walls of Furman's Cherrydale Alumni House coordinated perfectly with her bouquet.

Lindsey also wanted to be sure to include her dog, Chi Chi, in some of her bridal portraits.

Inspired by one of her favorite movies, Lindsey also incorporated some "ruby red slippers" into her bridal ensemble.

Katherine & Jeremy chose popular Falls Park for their engagement session because it's a special place where they enjoy spending time together. It's always fun to find different angles and new areas at this great location for pictures!

As we entered the park, I asked if there were any places that they like to hang out at when they come to the park and they mentioned a particular bench that they like to sit on, so we made sure to get some shots on that special bench.

Top honor went to the 2009 Wedding Photographer of the Year in which Anita was awarded Runner-Up! Who says you can't have a beautiful outdoor wedding in the rain? Emily & Richard's wedding day brought rain and the tents were put up in the courtyard at Larkin's on the River, but it was a beautiful day just the same. They were both great sports about it all and didn't let it stress them out. The scattered showers even let up just in time for us to get some fun shots on the bridge across the Reedy River.

Of course, I had to get a shot of the rings for these Clemson fans. :-)

Mike & Robin were married at Magnolia Glen in Locust, NC near Charlotte. This is the first time Ryan and I had been to Magnolia Glen and I immediately fell in love with the place! Well, maybe not immediately...as soon as we pulled up to the long gravel driveway, a storm cloud emerged and rained one of the heaviest rains I've ever seen. Then, about 10 minutes later, it stopped as suddenly as it had started. It was definitely an interesting start to what turned out to be a beautiful outdoor wedding day!

Wedding: Lee & Mia (Greenville SC Photographer)

Lee and Mia's wedding was hot! And I mean that literally...it was in the upper 90's that day! Their wedding day fell on one of the hottest days of the summer, but even with the melting temperatures, it was an absolutely beautiful wedding day! We started out at the Ryan Nicholas Inn in Simpsonville, SC where Mia and her bridesmaids got ready and then Mia and Lee saw each other prior to their ceremony for a few pictures. We then all headed over to Christ Community Church for the ceremony that was officiated by Mia's dad and then continued the celebration with the reception held back at the Ryan Nicholas Inn. Here are some of my favorite photos from the day.

First of all...yes, we're still alive! ;-) Some of you have probably been wondering what we've been up to for the past couple of months. I've got one word for you...editing! We've been busy editing pictures and video, trying to catch up from a busy wedding season, but I've been looking forward to posting some more weddings and here's one of them.

Will and Carmen were married at First Baptist Church in Greenville with their reception at the Poinsett Club. I first met Will and Carmen at Will's sister's wedding and have felt like a member of the family ever since, also photographing Carmen's brother's wedding. I've enjoyed working with all of these guys and am looking forward to seeing them all again next year at Will's cousin's wedding! I think by that time I might just jump into one of the family photos! ;-)

Brandon and Amy were married on the beautiful campus of Furman University. We were a little nervous as the day started out with rain, but it cleared off just in time for us to take lots of fun pictures outside. It could not have been a more perfect day!

Wedding: Steve & Laurie

What better wedding to post on the 4th of July than a military wedding? Laurie & Steve had a beautiful outdoor wedding at the Kilgore-Lewis House in Greenville, SC and Steve sported his Navy dress blues for the big day.

I think the host at the Kilgore-Lewis House likes a man in uniform! ;-)

Newborn Portrait: Jayden

I had the priviledge of photographing little Jayden's newborn portrait session. I first met his parents when I took their engagement photos and then they contacted me as soon as they found out they were expecting Jayden to let me know that they wanted me to take his first photos. It's fun to be able to see the journey that couples take from the anticipation of getting married to the excitement of becoming parents. Jayden is a blessed little boy.

I think this might have been Jayden's overall perception of his first portrait session...he just wanted to be left alone. ;-)

Best friends...this was the first stuffed animal that Jayden's parents bought for him when they first found out they were expecting him.

I loved Jayden's nursery with the jungle theme and all the monkeys...too cute!

Engagement: Ashley & Nolan

I met Ashley & Nolan in downtown Greenville for their engagement portrait session. The morning didn't start out quite as planned after Nolan found that his truck had been broken into that morning...not exactly the best way to start out your morning, especially on the day of your engagement session! I felt so bad! They were able to brush off the nerves though and go ahead with the session. It turned out to be a beautiful day and I think we got some great shots!

Wedding: Alex & Ellis

Alex & Ellis were married at the Christ Church Episcopal in downtown Greenville. I've been eager to post some of my favorites from their wedding day. Can you tell they had fun?!

I joined the wedding party as they headed over to the reception at the Westin Poinsett Hotel.

Umm, okay...let's just say the party got pretty wild...and this was only halfway through! This was the guy who caught the garter...I guess he needed to cool himself off after his dance with the girl who caught the bouquet. Since I'd like for this blog to remain family friendly, I'm leaving out the shots that led up to this one. If anyone needs entertainment for their next party though, I hear he's available. ;-P

The Tony Howard Show definitely knew how to get everyone out on the dance floor! In all the weddings I've been to, I've never seen this many people on the dance floor at one time!!

And of course we had to head up to the roof for some shots with the famous Poinsett Hotel sign.

It seems like just yesterday that I was babysitting her and her little brother when I was in college and now she's about to graduate from college herself and is getting married!! Where does the time go?!

Brenda's Cheesecakes

I had the opportunity of meeting the owner of Brenda's Cheesecakes this week and sampled some of their delicious cheesecake. Their small 4" cheesecakes are perfect for bridal showers and other personalized gifts and their standard 9" cheesecakes would be great for reception dessert bars! Their flavors include Original Butter Pecan, Sweet Potato, Red Velvet, Mint Chocolate Chip and Chocolate Marble. I'm definitely thinking about giving the Mint Chocolate Chip a try! :-) If you're looking for the ultimate southern comfort dessert, I definitely recommend giving Brenda's Cheesecakes a call!

Senior Portrait: Maria

Here's a few shots from my last wedding for 2008. Hunter & David had a beautiful Christmas wedding at Greenville ARP Church. The weather became a bit messy throughout the day, but we were able to get some shots outside before the ceremony in between the sporadic drizzling rain. I had to include the next two shots because I remember cracking up laughing when I took the first one...I love Hunter's facial expression here! :-) She thought that she had just caught a glimpse of David across the way, but was relieved to find out that it wasn't him and he had not seen his beautiful bride before her walk down the aisle! ;-)Sometimes I wish I were a bit taller, so I could have an easier time getting shots like this one through the window of the church door...or maybe I should start wearing heals to weddings...ummm, I don't think so.The happy couple just after the ceremony.How cool is this? A relative was in the hospital and couldn't come to the wedding, but she was able to watch the entire ceremony and talk to Hunter & David via webcam. It's amazing how far technology has come!Hunter & David's reception was held at The Saw Mill and the cozy fire made a beautiful backdrop for their first dance.Congratulations Hunter & David...thank you for having us capture all the special moments of your big day!

Bridal Portrait: Hunter

I've got lots of catching up to do on the blog and wanted to start out by sharing some of Hunter's bridal portraits that were taken back in the Fall at her friend's farm. I loved this location! It turned out to be a VERY windy day, which is not the most ideal situation for bridal portraits, but we were still able to capture some great shots in between the huge gusts of wind! :-)

Today was the official launch of the new South Carolina Organ and Tissue Donor Registry. I had the privilege of photographing the portraits of the recipients and donor family members that are featured on the Every11Minutes.org and DonateLifeSC.org websites and who's photos will be part of a statewide marketing and awareness campaign including brochures that will be in DMV's throughout South Carolina. It was amazing to hear the stories that each of these people had to tell and organ donation is definitely something that we should all think about. One person’s generosity can save up to eight lives through organ donation and enhance the lives of another 50 people through tissue donation and it's so much easier now with South Carolina's online registry! Woodland Custom Woodworking, LLC

Even though this blog is meant to showcase our photography and video work, we'd like to take this opportunity to showcase the work of another couple who we've had the chance to meet and work with, Matt & Melissa Johnson of Woodland Custom Woodworking, LLC. We photographed and videotaped their wedding day back in August and then we were able to work with them again on our kitchen remodel just before Christmas. They helped us work out a new layout for our kitchen and they built our beautiful custom cabinets. We are thrilled with the work they have done and highly recommend them! As a self-proclaimed perfectionist, I couldn't believe how perfect our cabinets turned out! Matt & Melissa's attention to detail was evident and we were very impressed with how quickly they were able to get the job done. Here are some pictures of their incredible work. Thank you again, Matt and Melissa! We LOVE our new kitchen! :-)

It's hard to believe that 2009 is here already! We look back on 2008 with mixed emotions as it held many ups and downs for us. Ryan and I celebrated our 10th anniversary, but mourned the loss of his father this past year. We're looking forward to the new year though and are already amazed at how quickly our calendar is filling up! It looks like 2009 is going to be another busy year for us and we are excited about the new products that we will be offering this year for weddings and newborn portraits. As soon as we catch our breath from our busy Fall and Christmas, we will be featuring some of these new products on the blog, as well as, updating our website with some of our most recent work.

Ann & Paul had a beautiful mountaintop wedding at Paul's mountain home. The Fall colors peeked right around their wedding day and we had great weather. It was truly a gorgeous day for an outdoor wedding...minus the few hornet and ladybug attacks! ;-) The happy couple.
